Slides: a briefing deck
Give participants information with a short deck. Make the slides, decide if participants can go back, and see the path of each participant.
-
Build the deck
Select a Slide segment and click Open Deck Builder.
The list on the left shows the slides. Add slide puts a new slide after the selected slide.
A slide contains blocks: heading, text, image, video or HTML. Add blocks from the Add block row. Each block opens in an editor. Done closes the editor.
Each slide also has its own layout, width, alignment and background. It also has a minimum time before Next operates.
CAUTION: The experiment does not get the deck until you click Save deck.
Three slides, each with one heading, then Save deck. -
Going back
Allow participants to go back adds a Back button on the second slide and on each slide after it.
This setting is off by default. Keep it off when the order is important. For example, a later slide can show information that must not change the answer to an earlier slide.
This deck allows Back. -
Beside a chat
By default, a deck is standalone: it fills the screen as a separate step. Display Mode can put the deck in a chat. Thus a group can talk while they read.
For more information, see Standalone and embedded segments, and The split screen: reading beside the chat.

What participants see, and what is recorded
Participants go to the next slide with Next. They go back with Back, if the deck allows it. On the last slide, this button becomes the button of the segment, which moves participants to the next step.
Carrier records each visit to a slide, with its start and end time. The segment submissions in the export show:
- The path through the deck. Here the path is slides 1, 2, 1, 2, 3.
- The number of slides that the participant saw.
- If the participant completed the last slide.
Forward, back one time, forward to the end, and then the next step.
