The split screen: reading beside the chat

An embedded segment in the Split layout fills the main area, and the chat moves to the side. Use it for a brief that participants read during the discussion.

  1. Dock a segment beside the chat

To show a segment beside the chat, do these steps:

    • Set Display Mode to Embedded.
    • Set Embedded Layout to Split.
    • Set Content pane width.

The segment fills the main area, and the chat moves to a column at the side. Content pane width sets the space for each part.

A PDF, a task, an instruction or a custom app can use this layout. Only one split pane can be open at a time. If the screen is less than 900 pixels wide, Carrier shows the segment alone.

The brief is embedded in the chat, in the Split layout, at 60% width.
  2. What the participant sees

The participant reads the brief, and the live chat is beside it. When the participant closes the brief with its Continue button, the chat uses the full width again. The discussion continues.

Here, the chat has its own Continue button for the end of the discussion. If you set the chat to Embedded complete, the chat ends when the participant closes the brief.

The brief beside the chat, then the chat alone after the participant closes the brief.
